Deep Listening Night Walk

Collaborative project by Elisa García and Amanda Gutiérrez

How can we listen to the night with depth from the collective walk?

We invited people in Mexico City to participate in this sound walk to bond, live together, and create a Deep Listening space from the night space’s audible relationship. The walk took place on the night of February 1, 2025, in the surroundings of the Rufino Tamayo Museum of Contemporary Art in Chapultepec.

Sound artists Elisa García and Amanda Gutiérrez carried out this project. They shared deep listening exercises and aural improvisations related to the acoustic environment and made field recordings of these collective soundscapes.
This sound walk was created and reflected acoustically through sound actions and Pauline Oliveros’s deep listening with our situated listening practices.

The recordings were part of a live radio session, featuring Amanda Gutierrez’s sound improvisation as part of the program Delicias Sonoras,  streamed by Radio Nopal within the exhibition Otros Mundxs,  aired on February 12, 2025, at Rufino Tamayo Contemporary Art Museum.

This project was presented at

Otrox Mundosx, Radio Programing by Radio Nopal, Rufino Tamayo Contemporary Art Museum, Mexico City.
