Pluri-Sonoridades
The Pluri-Sonoridades project is an artistic research endeavour that proposes a feminist revision of the Center of Documentation of Ex Teresa Museum archive, a crucial repository of the museum’s ongoing memory. The museum in Mexico City has been a critical player in Sound and Performance Art in Mexico. Our research is dedicated to tracing and archiving the interdisciplinary sound and media practices of women and LGBQTI+2 artists over the past 31 years of Ex Teresa Museum artistic programming. The primary focus of this project is to highlight the multidisciplinary practices of sound, including listening, performance, music, installation, live noise acts, participatory art exercises, and aural pedagogies from a post-feminist perspective. It contextualizes and traces the implications of inclusion and exclusion as an artistic institution and the curatorial biases in the museum’s history. It also aims to plan and reflect upon future directions and actions to open more opportunities and spaces for women and LGBQTI+2 artists in sonic media practices. Our participation in the New Media Art Archiving workshop will highlight the unique and vast experience of media archeology and archiving methods by the Center of Documentation of Ex Teresa in Mexico.
