Walking As An Infra-Antenna

“Walking As An Infra-Antenna” was a radio soundwalk performed at West Ridge Nature Park in Chicago, Illinois.

The radio soundwalk explored the concept of FM incantations as a metaphor for harnessing technology within more-than-human ecosystems. It involved emitting radio transmissions and receiving electromagnetic waves from the lake, soil, and air in the natural preserve. These waves were translated into resonant signals using various microphones. Sound is interpreted through the radio as a practice for communal listening, with our bodies acting as antennas to the sacred airwaves, connecting us to the territory we inhabit.

The soundwalk was a collaboration with artist Veronica Anne Salinas.

This soundwalk was part of the Summer Walks in the Parks series, organized by the MSAE in public parks throughout Chicago, Illinois. 2025.
